The Scholarship

Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) advocates for building a stronger teaching force by attracting and supporting the best and the brightest into teaching. 


Since 2008, PBEd has been implementing teacher scholarship programs through the 1000 Teachers Program (1000TP). In 2014 to 2020, PBEd also implemented the Scholarships for Teacher Education Programs to Uplift Teacher Quality in the Philippines (STEP UP) in partnership with the Australian government. 

With only 11% scholarship qualification success rate, these competitive scholarship programs for teacher education paved the way for substantive policy research and eventually led to the draft of the Teachers for Education for Achievers (TEACH) bill.

Scholars’ Legacy

The Scholar Alumni Network aims to bring the graduates of 1000TP and STEP UP programs together, to strengthen their commitment and participation as advocates for improving teacher quality and overall learning outcomes of their students. 

To date, the programs produced 1,281 graduates who are teaching in more than 420 institutions across the country.

With a 99% licensure exam passing rate, including 14 licensure exam top notchers.
